The Boston Celtics and Jayson Tatum soundly beat the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in May. Tatum and Embiid spent part of their summers working out with each other, and Tatum was sure to remind his rival of their playoff series.

The Celtics beat the Sixers in five games, but Tatum believes his team should have swept the Sixers, per Jay King of The Athletic.

“I just kept reminding him that we almost swept them — we should have swept them.”

This is just a little trash talk between the young stars, but Tatum's not completely wrong. The Celtics dominated this series and had control throughout, even despite a few close games.

Embiid isn't one to forget any trash talk, so make sure you have post notifications turned on for his social media if the Sixers beat the Celtics on opening night. But until the Sixers take down Boston, Tatum has the upper hand in any and all trash talk.

Not to mention, the Celtics were missing their two best players for the entire playoffs. Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward were both out for the season by this point. Had Irving and Hayward been healthy, Boston would have probably been favored to advance all the way to the Finals.

The Sixers know this and will be playing with a chip on their shoulder this season. The Sixers and Celtics rivalry should be compelling entertainment for years to come.
