Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics looked poised to take Game 1 on Miami's home floor. Instead, the Heat turned the tables and took control late.

The Celtics led by as much as 13 in the first half which made a Game 1 upset seem completely within reach. Jayson Tatum poured in 21 first-half points as they took an eight-point lead to the halftime break. But after the teams came out for the third quarter, the Celtics took a few blows from Miami that they weren't able to recover from.

Tatum was brutally honest on the Celtics' lack of fight after the game.

Via Jay King:

“Throughout the course of the playoffs we've done a great job responding to runs. … But for whatever reason we didn't today,” said the Celtics star.

After a game-changing first-half display, Jayson Tatum was suddenly careless in the third quarter, with a handful of miscues. He finished with seven turnovers, nearly half of Boston's 16 total for the game.

“I think, obviously, I don't want to turn the damn ball over, shit like that. But I guess you know, things happen during the game, and they go on runs. I'll be the first one to say I take the blame for that. I've got to lead better, I've got to play better in those moments, and I'm just looking forward to responding.”

The Heat landed the first big blow in Game 1. The onus is on the Celtics to respond accordingly.
