Boston Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving is good friends with Philadelphia 76ers small forward Jimmy Butler, but Irving doesn't really care that his pal is back in the Eastern Conference and on a team which looks to challenge the Celtics for the top seed in the East.

The Sixers acquired Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Celtics have gotten off to a relatively slow start to the year. Now that Butler is on the Sixers, who were already a really good team without him, many around the league believe Philadelphia can beat Kyrie Irving and the Celtics once the playoffs roll around.

However, Irving says it's way too early in the season to be thinking about stuff like that:

Both Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler played Wednesday for their respective teams. Irving and the Celtics easily defeated the Chicago Bulls, while Butler and the Sixers lost to the Orlando Magic in Butler's debut with Philadelphia.

Irving is right. There's still so much basketball left to be played. It's going to take time for the Sixers to incorporate Butler into their team. The Celtics are also likely going to get things together once Gordon Hayward finds his rhythm.

Essentially what Irving is saying is that both teams aren't even playing at their full potential yet, so there's no reason to get caught up in any type of hoopla.
