It appears that Boston Celtics superstar Kyrie Irving invited a few of his teammates to his house last Wednesday to tell them about his decision to re-sign with the team next summer. Irving announced his plans in public during a Thursday night event for fans at the TD Garden.

NBC Sports' Chris Forsberg wrote a story on Irving's decision and also tweeted out Al Horford's reaction to it.

Here is Horford's full statement on his teammate's decision to stay put in Boston.

“It was a very nice surprise,” Celtics big man Al Horford, one of the players at Irving’s house, told NBC Sports Boston on Friday. “Just his commitment to the organization, and a sense that we can put all the speculation behind us and focus on the season. That was very big of him to do something like that.”

“I personally would never come up and try to talk to him about it. At the end of the day, it’s his decision and whatever he wants to do,” said Horford. “But, yeah, we heard the speculation and everything. That was definitely out there and you wonder what was going to happen. I think he understands what we’re building here and the potential that is here.”

This will definitely prick out a thorn in the Celtics' front office as the team is definitely worrying about the possibility of Irving leaving next year. Many fans have already been speculating if the Celtics could also lure New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis, now that Irving will be re-signing with the league's most storied franchise.
