The Boston Celtics are enjoying a bit of a break after picking up a resounding 114-94 victory over the Miami Heat in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. Chances are they were tuning into the playoff action on Monday night since they had the day off, and if they did, they likely saw the Los Angeles Lakers throw away a 20-point lead in their 101-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets. And on Tuesday morning, Paul Pierce hit the Lakers with quite a bit of trolling that will delight fans everywhere in Boston.

Pierce spent 15 of his 19 seasons in the NBA with the C's, and he is one of the most well-respected players in franchise history. Pierce has remained close to the team, frequently popping up at TD Garden sitting courtside to watch the current version of the team. Part of being from Boston involves hating the Lakers, and Pierce proved his loyalties still remain with the Celtics after he donned a “Who's your daddy?” shirt during his appearance on “Undisputed” on Tuesday morning.

Nobody was doubting Pierce's loyalty to the C's, as he's proven to be a great ambassador for the team in retirement. But part of the job involves continuing to hold a deep hatred for their longtime rival in the Lakers, so it shouldn't exactly come as a surprise that he decided to rub salt in their wounds after their crushing loss to the Nuggets in Game 2.

LA held a 20-point lead over Denver early in the third quarter of this game, but the Nuggets gradually battled back into the game, and made it a tight contest late in the fourth quarter. Jamal Murray sent the crowd at Ball Arena home happy after he hit a game-winning buzzer-beater to give his team the aforementioned 101-99 victory, sending the Lakers to the locker room stunned with how they managed to fall short in this game.

Pierce, of course, had his own storied rivalry with the Lakers during his playing career. He led the Celtics to a Finals victory over LA in 2008 for the only championship of his career, but he also ended up coming just short two years later in 2010, when the Lakers gutted out a seven-game series victory over the C's to exact revenge for their prior loss.

The 2023-24 Celtics are looking to win the first title for Boston since Pierce did so back in 2008, and they will get back on the floor on Wednesday night for Game 2 of their first-round series against the Heat. The team will surely be focused on finding a way to keep up the positive momentum after their big series-opening win, but they will also likely get a good chuckle this morning after seeing Pierce's trolling of the Lakers after their crushing loss.
