The Boston Celtics are one of the five teams in the East that are seriously contending for the title, but Stephen A. Smith believes their chances lean on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

The team is laden with veteran talent, from Kyrie Irving to Al Horford to Gordon Hayward. All three of these players are key to the Celtics success. However, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith thinks that none of these guys will be the true driving factor for the C's in the playoffs.

Stephen A. thinks that the true game-changers will be the young guns in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. On the show First Take, the controversial commentator claimed that they will be the ones who will catapult the Celtics to the promised land.

“The biggest reason for the Celtics run, if they're gonna win anything, is Jayson Tatum along with Jaylen Brown. You got to get back to what worked last year. You got to get these two guys going. Jayson Tatum has been coming on strong as of late, averaging 16 a game, shooting 45 percent from the field, making things happen. He needs to continue making things happen.”

Smith makes some good points. Irving is a proven playoff player, having won a championship and shown he performs in the clutch when games need to be won. He will show up when the Celtics make the playoffs.

However, the team really needs the younger players to step up. Tatum showed he was capable of this last year, almost leading the team to a Finals appearance without Irving. If he and Brown can play there best ball in April and June, Tatum's most recent claim that the Celtics will win it all this year doesn't seem too far-fetched.
