Tracy McGrady sees big things in the future of Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, so much so that he couldn't help but compare him to Kevin Durant.

The former NBA superstar shared his belief that Tatum is more than capable of reaching the same status as Durant, noting that the Celtics youngster has all the makings of a future NBA MVP and multiple-time champion.

I think he can be really good. We’re talking K.D. status,” McGrady said, per NBC Sports. “I think the kid has the potential to be that good. He’s already showing glimpses of that in his young NBA career. I think he has the ability to win multiple championships, be an MVP of the NBA. I think he has that ability.”

At just 24 years old, Jayson Tatum has already led the Celtics to the NBA Finals. Kevin Durant did the same things with the Oklahoma City Thunder, catapulting the team to the championship stage when he was 23.

Clearly, as Tracy McGrady said, the career trajectories they are taking are quite similar. As everyone knows, Durant has since went on to become an NBA MVP and two-time champion–albeit with the Golden State Warriors after struggling to get over the hump with the Thunder.

If Tatum can lead the Celtics to the Larry O'Brien trophy, though, he'll one-up the now Brooklyn Nets star.
