Danilo Gallinari turned out to be the Atlanta Hawks' sacrificial lamb (along with three future first-round picks) in the blockbuster deal that saw Dejounte Murray make the big move to join Trae Young in Atlanta. As it appears, however, the San Antonio Spurs are not keen on keeping Gallo. A buyout seems imminent, and the Boston Celtics have emerged as a likely destination for the 33-year-old veteran.

According to NBA insider Zeno Pisani, the Celtics are one of three teams that could land Gallinari in the coming days, with the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat also in the mix:

Great shot for Danilo who secured 11.6 mil and will soon be free. Boston Chicago and Miami the main suitors

Danilo Gallinari did not have the best of seasons last term with the Hawks, averaging just 11.7 points per game — his lowest scoring output since his rookie year. The former sixth overall pick will now be entering his 14th year in the NBA, and there's no denying that he's no longer the star he once was.

Be that as it may, Gallo can still provide a ton of value for a contending team like the Celtics. Gallinari won't be putting up 19 or 20 points per game, but he should be good for some quality minutes off the bench.
