The NBA offseason has been nothing short of entertaining as multiple superstar free agents changed uniforms, altering the competitive landscape of the league. Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and Paul Millsap are just a few All-Star players who switched teams this offseason, opening the door for lower-tiered Eastern Conference teams.

Despite the star-studded player movement, nothing was perhaps more shocking than the trade that sent the Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and Brooklyn's 2018 first-round pick. However, the trade is reportedly in peril of falling apart over concerns of Thomas' hip injury and according to Mark Murphy of Boston Herald, the Cavaliers have yet to reach out to the Celtics for additional compensation:

“There has been no contact between the two teams since multiple reports surfaced that the Cavaliers, alarmed by the results of Isaiah Thomas’ physical last Friday, now want more in exchange for Irving.”

Thomas' injury must be serious enough for Cleveland to reconsider this deal given that it would be difficult for the team to find a better trade package. Boston has been rumored in numerous blockbuster trades due to their treasure chest of assets and is still in position to land Irving if Cleveland does decide to ask for more in a deal.

A resolution to the ordeal will happen soon as the Cavaliers only have until Thursday morning to void the agreed-upon deal. As fans of both teams wait in anticipation, it will be interesting to see how the two sides negotiate this issue.
