As the Boston Celtics look to solidify their roster for next season, and try to make a run back to the Eastern Conference Finals, there is one guy for sure that isn't expected back, Greg Monroe.

According to the Boston Globe, Monroe probably won't be back because of his struggles on the defensive side of the ball.

Monroe was signed during the middle of the season and he was in the rotation up until the playoffs. If a player can't find the court during the playoffs, especially when they could during the regular season, chances are the team will probably move on. During this last season, Monroe made over $16 million with the Phoenix Suns and $5 million with the Celtics who going to be strapped for cash, and with what Monroe provides, there is just no spot for him on the roster.

There are some players that the Celtics would like to keep for this upcoming season, including Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart. According to NESN:

“A team source said the Celtics want to bring back Marcus Smart and keep Terry Rozier for added depth and being a fully loaded roster next season, where they will be the favorites to win the Eastern Conference.”

The biggest question for the Celtics is if they will be able to afford Smart, and if he will take a discount to stay in Boston. There is a good chance that he could fetch more money on the open market, more than they are willing to pay, but it sounds like keeping him will be a top priority.
