The Kansas City Chiefs are going to have Patrick Mahomes available after entering the league's concussion protocol this past week, and he'll have one of his running backs back in the lineup.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is expected to play on Sunday, while Le'Veon Bell and Sammy Watkins are unlikely to suit up, though Watkins is a game-time decision.

Edwards-Helaire hasn't been on the field for the Chiefs since Week 15 of the regular season due to a high ankle sprain. The rookie running back had his best game of the season against the Bills in Week 6, rushing for 161 yards on 26 carries.

With Edwards-Helaire still out last weekend, it was Bell and Darrel Williams who handled the backfield duties during last week's Divisional Round matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

However, following Kansas City's win over Cleveland, Bell was discovered to have a knee injury that would limit him in practice throughout the week. With him not making much progress, the Chiefs aren't expected to have Bell available against the Buffalo Bills.

Bell was limited to two carries for six yards in last week's game versus the Browns as Williams received the majority of the touches in the backfield. Provided that, Edwards-Helaire could share the workload with Williams on Sunday versus the Bills.

Besides the news surrounding Edwards-Helaire and Bell, the Chiefs also don't expect Watkins to be active against his former team. Watkins is dealing with a nagging calf injury, and he hasn't played since Week 16 of the regular season.

Kansas City plans on letting Watkins test out his calf in pregame warmups before giving him an injury designation. If Watkins remains out, then the Chiefs will likely lean on Mecole Hardman to take his place in the offense alongside Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.
