Chris Bosh believes Miami would be a top-three team in the East with Russell Westbrook and Jimmy Butler
The Heat are reportedly interested in acquiring Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Miami acquired Butler from the Philadelphia 76ers in a sign-and-trade deal involving combo guard Josh Richardson.
Chris Bosh says the Heat would have two of the fiercest competitors in the league if they are able to pair Westbrook with Butler in South Beach.
“I would say definitely top-three,” Bosh said on ESPN’s Golic and Wingo Show. “That’s no disrespect to other teams, but if we’re talking talent and big time game ability and just the hunger; both of those guys haven’t won a championship, so they’re hungry. They’re obviously very good, some of the top talent in the NBA.
“If I could build around those guys for the next four years I would as well.”
Russell Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row, while Jimmy Butler is one of the best two-way wings in the NBA. The Heat could certainly contend with the Milwaukee Bucks and Sixers in the East if they are able to acquire Westbrook.
In 2018-19, Westbrook put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists, while Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
