Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers unintentionally lit a spark under a struggling Lou Williams, teasing him for his early misses, something the three-time Sixth Man of the Year apparently took to heart with a scorching fourth quarter in a 120-99 win over the Phoenix Suns.

Williams had only three points at the half, going 1-of-6 from the field with three assists and three turnovers. Rivers ripped into him jokingly, though his snark had more of an effect than he was expecting, resulting in an 11-0 personal run to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter:

ā€œI jokingly told him at halftime, ā€˜are you gonna make a shot today?ā€ said Rivers. ā€œI was just kidding around ā€¦ but he may have taken it seriously.ā€

Lou discussed the exchange as well:

Upon starting the fourth quarter, Williams could only wait a couple of minutes before going on his own scoring barrage, burying back-to-back 3-pointers before sneaking through the defense for a layup and then another trey for good measure, with two of them assisted by pick-and-roll partner Montrezl Harrell.

At the end of his personal 11-0 run, the Clippers led the Suns by 21 points, the same margin by which they ended up beating them on Tuesday night.

Williams finished with a signature 20 points off the bench and a team-high eight assists, doing his damage in only 23 minutes of play. His ability to put up these type of microwave numbers are what makes the partnership with Harrell such a dangerous combination and turns the Clippers into a monster when it comes to their reserves.

The two combined for 35 of the Clippers' 55 points off the bench, outscoring a solid Suns bench by 10.
