Jerry West's move to the L.A. Clippers earlier this summer caught many by surprise as he was one of the executives responsible for the recent run of success of the Golden State Warriors, and not a lot of people saw the change coming. Two months after the development in his front office career, The Logo spoke about his true feelings about it.

In a recent interview with The Athletic's Tim Kawakami, West admitted that he did not plan on leaving his former team, and that he was happy where he was before. He then added that seeing the Dubs turn out to be the successful group that they are now was a joy to watch.

“Frankly it was very sad, OK? It really was. A place where I thought that if I was going to work another year or if somebody wanted me to work another year, I thought I could contribute; I did not want to leave. I did not want to leave. I was very happy there.

But those things happen sometimes. Obviously to be around a bunch of players that were as together as any I’ve seen and I think more importantly the talent that was on that team and to see the joy. There’s a lot of joy there. I think those are the kind of environments where people really prosper.”

West was named a member of the Clippers' executive board, and will serve as a special consultant. His experience and winning pedigree will be relied upon by the organization, as they plan to continue their streak of playoff appearances, and even make it further past the second round.

Now with the Clippers, Jerry West is back in Los Angeles, where he became popular during his professional playing career. Although it may not be with the Lakers, he once again has a chance to make a difference in the city, and possibly bring a championship, like what he did as a player a long time ago.
