Amid the mid-season hoopla of teams looking for players to bolster their roster, Lou Williams has been one of the main guys on the radar after a rampant string of impressive games for the L.A. Clippers.

The 13-year veteran notched a career-high 50 points against the Golden State Warriors and has kept the foot on the accelerator ever since, becoming one of the most attractive targets despite being 31 years old.

“I’ve got low mileage, man,” Williams told Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports during a recent visit on the NBA A to Z podcast. “Over my career, I’ve been coming off the bench. I’ve never played big minutes before, even though the minutes that I have played have been impactful for a number of different teams. I’ve always played low minutes, and so I feel like I’m… probably in my prime now where other guys will be in their prime at 28, 29.”

Williams is putting up numbers that far surpass his career-best, and even the ones he put up as a Sixth Man of the Year award winner back in 2014-15, as a member of the Toronto Raptors.

The Georgia native is averaging a mind-blowing 23.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and a steal per game through 45 games this season, starting only in 14 of them.

Williams is in rarified air for a journeyman, rubbing shoulders with Kristaps Porzingis and LaMarcus Aldridge, tied for 15th place in the scoring list while shooting an impressive .451/.405/.904 clip from the field/three/free-throw line throughout the season.

The Clippers reportedly engaged in extension talks following his 50-point game, as interest from around the league increased that much more after single-handedly taking down the defending champions with a one-punch-knockout performance.

“I would like to be here, man,” he said. “I’m putting everything on the line out here for this organization, and you know the season I’m having I would like to be rewarded for it and just appreciated.”

“I’ve played on three teams in six months (Lakers, Rockets, then Clippers), and I’ve been impactful on all three of those teams. A lot of that stuff is out of my control, especially with how I’m playing. I’m doing everything I can in my power. Hopefully it’s just appreciated.”
