LA Clippers Patrick Beverley proved to everyone that he's one of the league's top defenders. In their Christmas day win over the Los Angeles Lakers, he sealed the deal for his team with a big-time defensive stop on LeBron James.

Initially, the referees deemed that the last touch was on Beverley. But after looking at the slow-motion replay from different angles, they discovered that it was James who touched the ball last.

The Lakers were down three points with under 10 seconds remaining. If James would've converted on the shot, the game would've gone to overtime with the momentum on their side. Beverley seems to be fully aware of this. He didn't even allow James a chance to rise up for a jumper.

It will go down as one of the best defensive stops in a regular-season game. The adage remains true that defense wins championships.
