It's hard to hide the sun with one finger. Unfortunately, Houston Rockets forward Corey Brewer was put in that position on a recent episode of ESPN's SportsNation.

The panel; consisting of Michelle Beadle, Marcellus Wiley and CNN/ESPN journalist LZ Granderson, consistently bantered and mocked James Harden‘s matador-like defense.

Brewer was asked if teammate Patrick Beverley had realistic expectations regarding the Houston All-Star, to which Brewer couldn't help but smile and say:

“We're gonna let the past be the past… We're gonna play defense this year.”

If Harden is indeed serious about his defensive efforts, he'll have to do a lot better than this:

Given that he was a good sport, the panel decided to have some more fun at Harden's expense and weigh Corey Brewer's thoughts on The Beard's new signature shoes.

After showing some of the tweets on the screen, the Florida alum couldn't help it anymore:

“I can't even take one for my guy,” Brewer said. “That's an ugly shoe. (Laughing) But I think it might just be the prototype or something.”

You can only take one for the team for so long until your integrity is compromised.

Well played, Brewer. Well played.
