Kris Bryant may not be talked about as the best player in baseball anymore and some may even trash him for the past couple of seasons he has had, but the Chicago Cubs' star is still a star. In the middle of what had been a tough game for him against the San Francisco Giants, the Cubs' third baseman came through with a clutch two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give his team a 12-11 lead.

Even the Cubs' official Twitter account took the time to make a point to the fans who had been trashing Bryant all game. Take a look at their tweet and the home run for yourself:

It is understandable for fans to be frustrated after losses, but this is just another in a long line of lessons about talking smack about a player in the middle of the game. Those same fans were likely loving the home run and praising Bryant following this homer.

Following that massive shot, Bryant sits at 26 home runs and 63 RBI's on the season. Obviously, those numbers are not what some fans expect out of him and he is probably capable of bigger numbers, but they are still very good and any team would absolutely love to have him.

Bryant and the Cubs are in the middle of a heated race for the National League Central division. Both the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers are right with them in the standings.

If the Cubs want to win the division this year and even make a playoff run, Bryant is going to have to continue coming through in the clutch. It wouldn't hurt if he got back to the production that he was giving just a few short years ago either. Either way, the Cubs should be very happy that Bryant is on their side.
