D’Angelo Russell is a very confident player.
He is a great young guard who is beginning to blossom into a very solid court general for the Lakers. He knows that and so does the Lakers organization.
Rob Perez of FoxSports.com met with D’Angelo Russell the other day to talk about his rookie season. Russell talked a good amount about the problems he had his rookie year, but also about the positives that came from it.
One great answer Russell had was when he was asked who’s the best player he played against last season:
FOX: Who is the toughest challenge you faced at point guard during your rookie season?
DAR: I don’t want to give anybody that credit.
FOX: D’Angelo Russell was the toughest?
DAR: Yup.
For anyone that likes a confident player, you have to love this. Many rookies would usually answer a question like this by giving credit to one of the great veterans in the league, but not D’Angelo Russell. He has the thinking that it is him against everyone else and he is going to go into this upcoming season with that mindset.
The only thing that will be on Russell’s mind this season with the Lakers is winning.
