Five new characters from all over the video game multiverse joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But it's only Kazuya Mishima who joins as a legitimate new fighter in SSBU. The other four are new Mii Fighter Costumes.

Director Masahiro Sakurai showcased the gameplay of the upcoming DLC fighter Kazuya Mishima from the TEKKEN series. Here, he demonstrated how Kazuya’s moveset works, explained his strengths and weaknesses, victory poses, and color variations.

Towards the latter part of the video came the announcement about the new Mii Fighter costumes available for purchase coming to SSBU. They may not be directly the characters themselves, but at least we get to enjoy playing Miss dressed as Lloyd Irving, Dragonborn, Dante, and Shantae in the ultimate cross-over fighting game.

The new set of Mii Fighters represent fan-favorite games. Lloyd came from Tales of Symphonia, Dragonborn from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Dante from Devil May Cry, and Shantae from Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.

Somehow, these four made their way into SSBU, but not in a way the fans wanted. While some of these characters never really had a real chance of being added to the roster, some Smash fans still feel a tad disappointed. Getting a representative of your series join as a Mii Fighter Costume doesn't mean that future Fighters will never come from these series. But these characters themselves – Lloyd, Dragonborn, Dante, and Shantae themselves will no longer receive their Smash invitations.

Lloyd, Dragonborn, and Dante will be Swordfighters while Shantae will fulfill the Brawler role. The set of Mii Fighters, releasing alongside Kazuya, will cost $0.75 each.  The Mii Fighter Costume Vol. 10 comes out on June 29, 2021.
