Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler nearly called it quits before he signed with the team last NFL offseason. Now it appears he is set to actually go through with it this time.

Despite the quarterback-needy theme of the offseason, little was said about Cutler's prospects moving forward. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he is expected to announce his retirement for the second time:

Speaking of future TV stars, ex-Dolphins QB Jay Cutler is expected to retire (again), as well. He may be coming to a reality show near you, as will his wife. And of course, there is the Fox interest to join the broadcast booth.

Following his brief retirement last offseason, there was speculation that Cutler could be making the transition to broadcasting. However, Miami's desperate need for a quarterback in lieu of the season-ending knee injury to Ryan Tannehill spurred them to sign the veteran to a one-year, $10 million contract.

Needless to say, it was quite the unceremonious ending to an otherwise tumultuous career. Cutler threw for just 2,666 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 14 appearances. Although he hardly managed to give the Dolphins their money's worth, he did provide a temporary cushion to their issues under center.

Now it appears as though Cutler is ready to make the full transition to his second career. Aside from his future potential broadcasting gig, he is also expected to star in a reality series with his wife and fashion designer Kristin Cavallari. That said, it will be interesting to see if Cutler brings the same enthusiasm to the camera as he did to playing in the NFL.
