Earlier this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles traded for Jordan Howard to bolster their backfield. Despite acquiring him just a few months ago, the Eagles were rumored to be using Howard as a trade piece to try and lure Melvin Gordon, holding out and seeking a new, long-term contract, from the Los Angeles Chargers.

Howard explained how he felt when he found out that his name was mentioned in talks with the Chargers, per Les Bowen in The Philadelphia Inquirer:

“I didn’t hear about that, but that’s not my job, to worry about it, my job is just to focus on what’s on hand right now,” Howard said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “That doesn’t really make me feel any kind of way. It’s good people are interested in me or whatever.”

The Eagles obtained Howard to replace Jay Ajayi—who started for the team for a few games in 2018. Along with Howard, Philadelphia drafted Miles Sanders to create a formidable duo in their backfield.

Prior to his arrival with the Eagles, Howard spent his first three seasons with the Chicago Bears. Over the past three seasons in Chicago, the Indiana product has averaged 1,123 yards and eight touchdowns per season.

As for Gordon, the Chargers running back has been holding out during training camp and preseason. Gordon is entering the final year of his rookie contract where he will make $5.6 million in 2019.

Recently, the Chargers granted permission for their disgruntled rusher to seek out a trade with another team. Up to this point, no teams have shown much interest—besides the Eagles.

However, it seems like the Eagles were just scratching the surface to see what type of package that Los Angeles would want for Gordon. Nonetheless, Philly is content with Howard as one of their featured backs.
