Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has been announced as one of the four finalists for the Heisman Trophy. He led Alabama to the number one seed in the College Football Playoffs after a 12-1 season where he helped the Crimson Tide win an SEC title.

He has been sensational all season long and is a big reason for the success that Alabama has had. What he was able to do this season shows that he is the deserving Heisman winner as he put up over 4,300 yards, 43 touchdowns, and had a QBR of 89.9, which was second-best in all of college football. If it wasn't for Bryce Young taking over the last half of the season, there is a good chance that Alabama would not be in the position that they are in right now.

Everything that he did this season is exactly what a Heisman Trophy winner should do, so let's take a look at three reasons why he should win the award.

3. He put up video game numbers

When looking at Bryce Young's stat sheet, it doesn't make much sense. A college quarterback should not be able to throw for over 4,000 yards and 43 touchdowns while only throwing four interceptions in the best conference in college football. Some of the numbers that he was able to put up towards the last half of the season are simply mind-blowing.

In the last three games of the season, he threw for over 400 yards twice and didn't throw for under 300 in any game. He was able to put up 559 yards on a 77.5% completion rate for five touchdowns and no interceptions against a tough Arkansas team. He then went to play against the University of Georgia in the SEC Championship game and threw for 421 yards against arguably the best defense that college football has seen in the past decade.

The numbers that he put up this season are everything and then some of what a Heisman Trophy winner should do.

2. He carried his offense

For the last half of the season, Bryce Young wasn't going to let Alabama lose a game. They suffered a tough loss to Texas A&M, but after that, it was all in Bryce Young's hands and he carried the offense.

Alabama has had some great quarterbacks in the past few seasons, but they have always been a team that likes to run the football. This wasn't necessarily the case this year for Alabama as Bryce Young simply did everything for this offense by setting his teammates up for success.

After their loss against Texas A&M, Alabama put up at least 40 points in five of their seven games. Bryce Young only threw one interception from the Texas A&M loss for the rest of the season. What's even more impressive is that for every single team that he played except one, he had to go up against SEC opponents. Not only are SEC opponents tough to face, but they also have some of the most difficult stadiums to play out in the country. He went into Auburn and Mississippi State and was able to help his team walk away with the victory while throwing for over 300 yards in both games.

1. Played in the SEC

Playing in the SEC is not an easy task. There is a reason why people around the world say the SEC is just different. This is seen in every single season when the College Football Playoffs come around and the SEC is usually having two teams in the final four. Going up against teams like Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Florida, Arkansas, and others, is never an easy task, even if those teams aren't the best that season.

Throwing for over 4,300 yards while playing in the SEC is not something that is seen every season. In the conference, he was able to throw for 3,168 yards with 26 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Doing this against only SEC opponents is something that the voters need to take into account because he was playing against the best competition week in and week out.

It's not going to be an easy award for Bryce Young to win as there are some other players who were nominated that most certainly put up the season that warrants winning a Heisman Trophy. Luckily for Young, he did this in the SEC and that is something that voters are going to take into account. The only one who should have a possibility of beating him is CJ Stroud of Ohio State.
