Since joining the NBA in 1988, the Charlotte Hornets franchise has compiled an overall record of 1,050-1,345.

The organization was called the Charlotte Bobcats from 2004 to 2014 before going back to the Hornets for the 2014-15 campaign.

For this piece, we’ll be taking a look at every single trade deadline move the Hornets franchise has made since 1988.


The Hornets traded Stuart Gray to the New York Knicks for a 1991 second-round draft pick.

Charlotte also sent a 1991 second-round draft pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Randolph Keys.


The Hornets sent Rex Chapman to the Washington Bullets for Tom Hammonds.


Charlotte dealt Mike Gminski and a 1997 first-round draft pick (Paul Grant was later selected) to the Milwaukee Bucks for Frank Brickowski.


The Hornets traded Scott Burrell to the Golden State Warriors for Donald Royal.

Charlotte also sent Anthony Goldwire and George Zídek to the Denver Nuggets for Ricky Pierce.

1998-99 lockout season

The Hornets dealt B.J. Armstrong, J.R. Reid and Glen Rice to the Los Angeles Lakers for Elden Campbell and Eddie Jones.


The Bobcats traded Steve Smith to the Miami Heat for Malik Allen.


Charlotte sent Keith Bogans to the Houston Rockets for Lonny Baxter.


The Bobcats dealt Melvin Ely to the San Antonio Spurs for Eric Williams, cash and a 2009 second-round draft pick.


Charlotte traded Shannon Brown and Adam Morrison to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vladimir Radmanović.


The Bobcats sent a 2016 second-round draft pick to the San Antonio Spurs for Theo Ratliff.

Charlotte also dealt Acie Law, Ronald Murray and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Chicago Bulls for Tyrus Thomas.
