Northwestern has become a hot topic in the college sports world. Former football coach Pat Fitzgerald was fired after hazing allegations surfaced, and a number of former players came up and gave some shocking admissions of what things looked like at Northwestern. Now, it is more than just the football program. One former Northwester volleyball player has filed a hazing lawsuit, per Dan Murphy of ESPN.

‘A former Northwestern volleyball player filed a lawsuit Monday morning in Illinois claiming that the school and its athletic department were negligent in response to an alleged hazing incident that occurred in the spring of 2021. The player, who filed her lawsuit anonymously, said she was injured while running sprints as part of a “punishment” sanctioned by coach Shane Davis, and that Davis “enabled a culture of racism, bullying, harassment, hazing and retaliation” within Northwestern's volleyball program.'

The Northwestern baseball program also faced some questionable claims, although the football program has been the biggest point of emphasis. Volleyball coach Shane Davis, along with former presidents and athletic directors, have all been listed as defendants in this latest case involving Northwestern.

The player's lawyers, Parker Stinar and Patrick Salvi, released a statement, and this is not a good look for the athletic department as a whole: “Jane Doe's complaint outlines the institutional failures at Northwestern beyond the volleyball and football programs, shedding light of a corrupt athletic department.”

The situation involving Northwestern continues to be brought to light, and it will be worth monitoring to see how all of this plays out.
