The 2020 NFL season has arrived much to the delight of football fans everywhere. Following an offseason full of uncertainty about whether or not the season would actually be played, everyone will finally see a live game on Thursday night. Fantasy football players are also getting ready for what should be a very entertaining and interesting season.

At the wide receiver position, fantasy football drafts focus on locking down names like Michael Thomas, DeAndre Hopkins, Davante Adams, Odell Beckham Jr., and Tyreek Hill. However, the moves that could end up paying off and winning someone a championship are taking a risk on a rookie that turns out to be a star in year one.

Thankfully, there are a few wide receivers who have the ability to change a fantasy football season this year. In the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, there were six wide receivers taken. Those wide receivers in order were Henry Ruggs III, Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, Jalen Reagor, Justin Jefferson, and Brandon Aiyuk. All six of those guys have big-time potential for the future.

All of that being said, playing a rookie wide receiver in his NFL debut can be hit or miss. We're here to make sure that you hit and don't miss.

Let's take a look at what Fantasy Football players should expect from each first-round wide receiver in Week 1.

Henry Ruggs III, Las Vegas Raiders

First up, the Raiders were ecstatic to select Henry Ruggs III with the No. 12 overall pick in the draft. Jon Gruden loves speed and that is exactly what the Las Vegas Raiders are getting with this kid. He also has a great matchup in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers, who don't have a lethal defense like they once did.

Ruggs should be able to put up good numbers in his debut and is worth playing as a WR3 or FLEX option. He should end up with around six receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers make him worth the risk to play in Week 1.

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

Denver is going to be a very intriguing team from a fantasy football perspective. Drew Lock took over the starting quarterback job late last season as a rookie and is expected to take a big step forward in 2020. Courtland Sutton is the Broncos' No. 1 wide receiver with Jeudy coming in as the No. 2 target.

Jeudy may not get off to a super hot start, but he is a serviceable WR3 option. Denver will be taking on the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. While the Titans have a decent defense, Jeudy should be able to catch five passes for 50 yards and possibly a touchdown.

If you have a surefire better option, sitting Jeudy for Week 1 would make sense.

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

One of the biggest sleeper wide receivers in the entire fantasy football draft this season is Cowboys' rookie wideout CeeDee Lamb. He may be listed as the third wide receiver on the depth chart behind Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, but he is still in line for a big season. Opposing defenses will have to pick their poison.

Lamb and the Cowboys have a matchup against the Rams this week. It is very unlikely that Lamb will have to go up against Jalen Ramsey, which bodes well for him. He is going to have a breakout performance in his debut to the tune of eight receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown, which makes him a must-play WR2, WR3, or FLEX.

Jalen Reagor, Philadelphia Eagles

Throughout training camp, there was nothing but good said about Jalen Reagor. He adds much-needed depth behind Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, but he absolutely isn't worth throwing in your Fantasy Football lineup this week.

Reagor could end up with four or five receptions for 40 or 50 yards, but his upside isn't huge this week. Philadelphia has both Jeffery and Jackson ahead of him, as previously mentioned. They also have J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, which makes their wide receiver situation something that fantasy football players should monitor for Week 1 before throwing the rookie out there.

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

Perhaps the most intriguing rookie wideout in Week 1 will be the Vikings' Justin Jefferson. Following the trade of star wideout Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota will be relying heavily on Jefferson. He should end up being the No. 2 receiver in 2020.

The Vikings are facing off against the division rival Green Bay Packers in Week 1, who do have a talented secondary. But, the Packers have had a bad habit of giving up big plays to the Vikings. Jefferson would be worth a shot as a WR3 this week and should end up with six receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers

Finally, the 49ers were the last team in the first round to take a wide receiver. Brandon Aiyuk has been killing it in training camp for the 49ers and has earned himself an immediate role. Deebo Samuel is the clear-cut WR1 in San Francisco, but Aiyuk will come in as the No. 2 option for Jimmy Garoppolo.

San Francisco has a Week 1 date against the Arizona Cardinals. Aiyuk will make a major impact in his NFL debut. He should end up with seven receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown, which makes him a quality play in most leagues.
