We are a little over three weeks into the new baseball season and there are a number of surprises. The New York Mets and New York Yankees have the best records in their respective leagues. The Chicago White Sox might have the worst offense in all of baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins are all in first place. It's a topsy turvy baseball world, that has leaked it's strange beginnings into the world of fantasy baseball. That leads us to our recurring column of the top waiver wire adds for fantasy baseball managers as we head into Week 4.

2022 Fantasy Baseball: Top 5 Waiver Wire adds for Week 4

1. Ramon Laureano – OF Oakland Athletics

We have not heard this name for a little while. That is because Ramon Laureano had been serving an 80-game suspension after being busted for performance-enhancing drugs. Obviously, we do not know if he will be close to the same player he was while taking the PED's, but he is certainly worth a gamble.

He is eligible to be activated Sunday, May 8th. But if you decide to wait until the weekend to grab him, it will likely be too late. Laureano is still currently available in 71 percent of fantasy baseball leagues on Yahoo.

From 2019 leading up to his suspension last year, the A's outfielder had hit a combined 44 home runs and stolen 27 bases. He did that though in very limited action with around 900 at-bats. He should be capable of putting up 20 plus home runs with double digit stolen bases the rest of the year. It's rare to find that level of power and speed sitting on the waiver wire. Knowing how putrid the Athletic's offense is, he is sure to hit in the middle of the order. Go grab him off the waiver wire before it's too late.

2. Ha-Seong Kim – 2B San Diego Padres

The next guy on our list is Ha-Seong Kim. The Padres infielder was not a lock to even have a starting spot in the lineup when the season began. But injuries and inconsistent play from others has allowed Kim to work his way into the everyday lineup. He is certainly making the most out of it.

After a cold spell in the middle of April, he is beginning to heat up. He has three home runs, eight RBI and six runs scored over his last seven games. Yet, he is still owned in only 20 percent of Yahoo leagues.

In 2020 during his final year in the Korean league, Kim hit .306 with 30 home runs , 111 runs scored, 109 RBI's and 21 stolen bases. He struggled his first year in the majors last season, but this would not be the first time it took someone from overseas a little while to adjust in the states. An added bonus is the positional flexibility he offers, qualifying at 2B, SS and 3B.

Kim might not be a season-long option, but could be worth a look on your waiver wire if you are looking for some speed and a little pop.

3. Randal Grichuk – OF Colorado Rockies

Randal Grickuk is an interesting one. He was woefully under-drafted in a vast majority of fantasy leagues, and went un-drafted in many others. After not playing everyday to begin the season, his ownership remained low. But he started catching fire the second week of the season. Thus, his ownership is up to 66 percent. So he likely is only available in a third of leagues out there. But he should not be available in any leagues.

This is Grichuk's first year in Colorado. Normally I would say leaving a Blue Jays lineup is sure to hurt your fantasy baseball value. But this is the extenuating circumstance that breaks that sentiment. Grichuk hit his third home run over the last week on Sunday, and has not hit safely in eight of his last 10 games.

Grichuk doesn't offer much in terms of speed, and his batting average and on-base percentage are sure to come back to Earth. But the power is legit. Hitting at Coors Field in the middle of the Rockies lineup is always a good thing. His outstanding defense is also very likely to keep him in the lineup even when he slows down.

4. Sheldon Neuse – 3B Oakland Athletics

It does feel strange recommending two players from Oakland on this week's list, but facts are facts. A's infielder Sheldon Neuse has been the one consistent hitter in Oakland's lineup this season.

The third-year player certainly did not impress in very limited action his first two years in the big leagues. Neuse had only 25 hits in 111 at-bats over that time frame. But this year, he looks like he has matured at the plate. He is hitting a robust .328 with a .400 OBP, having more times this year (6) than the previous two combined (5).

Obviously, all of this is a small sample size. But that could be a good thing and is likely why he is only rostered in 25 percent of leagues. With Laureano about to return to this lineup, Neuse should continue scoring runs at the very least. He consistently hits second in the A's order and has picked up three stolen bases thus far. You could do much worse in terms of upside on the waiver wire this week.
