The NFL season is approaching, and it's time for fantasy owners to assemble their roster. Part of the puzzle is finding fantasy breakout WRs, a subset of fantasy football breakout candidates. Let's search for some fantasy football breakout wide receivers.
Every season, there are players that break out and become fantasy stars. Those are the guys that can put your team over the top and lead you to a championship.
A position that has an abundance of breakout candidates is at wide receiver. Talented wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Chase Claypool are guys that were mostly picked up through waivers last season. With that said, here are the top 5 fantasy football breakout candidates at wide receiver in 2021, ranked.

5. Curtis Samuel
Curtis Samuel had a good season for the Carolina Panthers last season and could have a breakout season. He signed with the Washington Football Team in the offseason and could be an integral offensive weapon. Paired next to Terry McLaurin, Samuel could have a breakout season, especially with his offensive versatility.
Last season, Samuel had 77 receptions for 851 yards and 3 touchdowns. Samuel also had 41 carries for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. The Washington Football Team should have an improved offense in 2021, with new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. While Fitzpatrick has never been a star, he has helped improve offenses in his many stops throughout his career.
Samuel will likely be utilized a ton, and he has a great shot at a breakout year.
4. Jerry Jeudy
A rookie that had a somewhat disappointing rookie season is Jerry Jeudy. Jeudy still put up solid numbers, but he didn't produce as much as people were expecting. This year should be different as he will have Courtland Sutton alongside him, which should free him up more. That's how players become fantasy football breakout wide receivers.
Last season, Jeudy had 52 receptions for 856 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has a ton of talent and will be a top target for either Teddy Bridgewater or Drew Lock. While both quarterbacks are not great, they both have solid skills that will help Jeudy produce fantasy points.
If Jeudy is available late in the draft, don't hesitate to take him as he is a breakout candidate.
3. Mike Williams
A player that could really make a drastic improvement in 2021 is Mike Williams. Williams plays for the Los Angeles Chargers, who could be a breakout team altogether. He is paired alongside star wide receiver Keenan Allen, who will get most of the defense's attention. That frees up Williams to do great things, especially with a promising young quarterback in Justin Herbert. It's the recipe for various fantasy football breakout wide receivers.
Herbert won Offensive Rookie of the Year last season and broke multiple rookie records. He is also bound to progress, which will help Williams' numbers go up. Last season, Williams had 48 receptions for 756 yards and 5 touchdowns. It was a down year for Williams as he had gone over 1,000 yards the season prior.

Williams is primed to take a jump this season and become a great number two receiver for the Chargers.
2. Terry McLaurin
The second player on the Washington Football Team that makes the list is Terry McLaurin. McLaurin had a phenomenal 2020 campaign, but he should improve even more this season and become one of the fantasy football breakout wide receivers in the NFL. He has a solid receiver alongside him now in Samuel and a new quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Last season, McLaurin had 87 receptions for 1,118 yards and 4 touchdowns. These were good numbers, but he has room to improve. McLaurin is such a dynamic talent, and he will be a top receiver in the league this season.

1. CeeDee Lamb
The consensus breakout receiver according to numerous people is CeeDee Lamb. Lamb showed his elite-level talent in his rookie campaign with the Dallas Cowboys last season. He is a part of the Cowboys' tremendous offense, and he is bound to be one of the best fantasy football breakout candidates this year.
Last season, Lamb had 74 receptions for 935 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is an all-around receiver with fantastic ball skills. Lamb showed great promise in his rookie season, even with star quarterback Dak Prescott out for a majority of the season.
With Prescott back, Lamb's numbers should increase. He has great receivers alongside him in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, which will allow him to produce at a high level. Lamb could be a top 10 fantasy receiver this season and should be a target for fantasy owners in the draft.
With all these potential breakout receivers, the fantasy football season looks to be a great one. There are so many fans excited for the NFL season, and it is bound to be a good one. In fantasy drafts, the receiver position always has so much depth. However, if these fantasy football breakout wide receivers are available, you should not hesitate to select them.
