The Calgary Flames will be disappointed not to have advanced further in the 2022 NHL Playoffs, getting bounced by the rival Oilers in the second round's Battle of Alberta. After the series loss, Flames coach Darryl Sutter revealed a shockingly long list of players who were banged up during the playoffs, some of them with some pretty damning injuries. Via Salim Nadim Valji, among the injured Flames players included Matthew Tkachuk, Christopher Tanev, Nikita Zadorov, Oscar Kylington, Milan Lucic, and Andrew Mangiapane.

Considering the ridiculous amount of injuries plaguing the Flames in the playoffs, it's no wonder they struggled to get past the Oilers.

Tanev is set to undergo offseason surgery to repair his dislocated shoulder, though none of the other aforementioned players will need to have procedures. Instead, they'll rest up during the offseason and look to get back to full strength for next season.

Matthew Tkachuk was notably absent in a handful of games against the Oilers. While he featured in every game of the playoffs despite his hand injury, he didn't have his usual impact on games, failing to pressure Mike Smith in net as often as the Flames would have liked.

Mangiapane's injury certainly didn't appear to slow him down as he enjoyed a strong series against the Oilers. In all honesty, his accomplishments in the series are even more impressive considering his injury.

What Sutter managed to achieve with this banged-up bunch was quite remarkable, and if they can re-sign Johnny Gaudreau this offseason, expect the Flames to be back in the Stanley Cup title race next season when back at full strength.
