The Philadelphia Flyers have played rather well so far this season. In fact, they currently occupy a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with an 11-9-1 record. Of course, the team may still end up as sellers around the trade deadline. For now, though, they are in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race. And defenseman Travis Sanheim has played a major role in that.

Sanheim enters their next game leading the team in time on ice. The defenseman averages around 26 minutes a game. And he's productive, as well. The Flyers veteran leads the team with 16 points through his first 21 games of the year. To compare, he had 21 points through 81 games in 2022-23.

On Monday, Sanheim acknowledged his fast start to the year. He went on to give his perspective on why he has found success through the first quarter of the campaign. “Just feel a lot more comfortable this season,” the Flyers defenseman said, via NHL.com.

“I feel like I've kind of found a pretty good role and I'm happy with where my game is at,” Sanheim continued. “Obviously last year was one to kind of forget and move past and I feel like I've done a good job kind of coming into the season with a different mindset and it's been working so far.”

Philadelphia have found their form, having won six of their last eight games. It's tough to say if they can keep it up, but the Flyers have momentum right now. And when you have that, things go well for you in the NHL.

Philadelphia certainly hopes to keep their winning ways going moving forward. The Flyers take the ice again on Tuesday when they play host to their division rival Carolina Hurricanes.
