Max Verstappen wins at home to take the Dutch Grand Prix win. While the podium result is far from atypical in recent Formula 1 seasons, it's definitely a special victory for the Red Bull Racing driver.

The Red Bull star was all smiles as he reacted to the victory that propelled him back to the top of the Formula 1 driver standings.

Verstappen had this to say, via Alex Hess of The Guardian:

“As you can hear, it’s just incredible,” said Verstappen after taking another Formula 1 win. “The expectations very high and it’s never easy to fulfill that but i’m so happy to win here. To take the lead in the championship, it’s just an amazing day. the start was very important, we did that very well. Mercedes made it very difficult but we countered all the time really well and we can be really pleased with the whole team performance today.”

His F1 rival, Lewis Hamilton, was gracious in defeat. The 7-time World Champion had to give it up to Max and a great drive he had to outlast both Mercedes drivers in the end.

“What a race, what a crowd! It’s been an amazing weekend. Max did a good job so congratulations to him. I gave it everything, flat out, Pushed as hard as I could but they were just too quick for us. The final lap was the best part of the race for me – this track is incredible, so a single lap, low fuel … this is now one of my favourite tracks. I can’t wait to come back next year.”

Max Verstappen started from pole position and finished in the same spot, in resounding fashion. The Red Bull raced past everyone with a 23 second gap between his race finish and that of Hamilton at second place. Verstappen now leads Hamilton by a slim margin of 3 points, 224.5 to 221.5.

The battle for supremacy continues to stay sizzling in Formula 1 this season.
