The newest New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones isn't going into his time with low expectations saying on Friday that he wants to be just like Eli Manning and win multiple Super Bowls in the Big Apple. The Giants have four Super Bowl Championships and Jones would like to help add to that trophy case.
“I think the goal is certainly to win Super Bowls,” Jones said Friday via the New York Post. “There’s no doubt about it, that the goal, to win multiple Super Bowls, like Eli has.
“I’m looking forward to that.”
On one hand, it's good that Jones has a lot of confidence, but this is giving some fuel to the fire to the New York media if he fails, which it seems many of the fans and media expect.
One thing that the New York media did notice was just how much Jones acted like Manning. Paul Schwartz of the New York Post gave the following description:
Jones, 21, made his way around the facility, and observers were taken with how much he gives off an Eli Manning vibe. His appearance, size, neatly combed hairstyle, mannerisms, speech inflection and even a few facial expressions all have an uncanny similarity to the 38-yea- old Jones was drafted to eventually replace.
Manning was impressive early in his career and if Jones can play as well as he did during the first half of his years in New York there is no doubt the media and the fans will change their tune to him. If he can bring in the Super Bowls he will go down as a hero.
