The New York Giants are well into their OTAs and preparing for the 2022 NFL season. The quarterback situation is set in New York, with Daniel Jones as the starter and Davis Webb as the next man up.

Following Thursday's OTA, Webb had some controversial compliments for his quarterback companion.

“He’s the hardest-working quarterback I’ve been around,’’ Webb said, quotes courtesy of the New York Post. “He’s probably the smartest quarterback I’ve been around.’’

While this is the ultimate compliment from one teammate to another, it's an extremely hot take, especially considering Webb's history. He's “been around” multiple star quarterbacks in his collegiate and professional career, including Patrick Mahomes, Eli Manning, and Josh Allen.

To put things into perspective, Jones has yet to lead the Giants to a playoff run through three seasons as the starter. Meanwhile, Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to playoff runs all four years of his career, including two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl championship.

Josh Allen led the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs his last three (of four) seasons, and Eli Manning is a Giants legend and two-time Super Bowl champion.

Webb elaborated, stating that Jones shows his quarterback intelligence both on and off the field.

“He has really good questions in meetings, takes really good notes, he’s always looking to improve, weight room, practice field, meeting room, he’s just all in, and it’s fun to have a teammate like that,’’ he said.

Webb even predicted that Jones is going to have his “best year” yet. For the job security of Danny Dimes, I sure hope so.
