New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley established himself as one of the most promising, young players in the league. He feels he has already emerged as the best at his position.

Barkley took the league by storm as a rookie. According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, he believes he is the best running back in the NFL:

“You got to believe that you’re one of the best, and that’s what I personally believe,’’ Barkley said Tuesday night at an NFL Network event at Jazz in Lincoln Center for the start of the league’s 100th season. “But I do have tremendous respect for all the guys out there, especially the [Todd] Gurleys and Le’Veon [Bell] and the Zekes [Ezekiel Elliott] of the world, Alvin [Kamara], Christian [McCaffrey] — there’s so many I could list off.’’

Barkley's comments may seem a bit bold considering he is only entering his second year in the league. Regardless, there is no question that he has done a tremendous job of throwing his name into the conversation.

The Giants caught plenty of flak for taking Barkley with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft without a successor behind quarterback Eli Manning. It did not take long for the former Penn State product to justify the decision after establishing himself as the central force of this offense thanks to his skill set as an every-down back.

Barkley will no longer be taking the league by surprise as he attempts to lead a turnaround in New York. He will need all the confidence he can get if he hopes to solidify his claims of being the NFL's best running back.
