New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley has hit the injury list once again after suffering a scary ankle injury in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys. After just playing just one full game last season before suffering a season-ending ACL injury, the former Offensive ROTY will now be undergoing further tests to check the severity of his ankle.

According to NFL's Ian Rapoport, it is safe to assume that the 24-year-old Pro Bowler will be out for next week and could be considered week-to-week prior to the results of his tests. Giants fans will have to wait and see what the full assessment which should come out within a day or two.

Barkley suffered the low-ankle sprain early in the game, with his team trailing 3-0 midway through the first quarter. QB Daniel Jones threw an incomplete pass and Barkley ran into Cowboys CB Jourdan Lewis and awkwardly stepped on his foot. Barkley immediately hit the floor grimacing in pain and had to limp off the gridiron before ultimately being carted off the field.

Here's a closer look at the play (via Fox Sports):

This is not a good sign for the now 1-4 Giants. Aside from being outclassed by Dak Prescott and the rest of the home squad, New York lost a few key guys on Sunday, as well, aside from their star RB.

QB Daniel Jones also had to be carted off the field after suffering a concussion after taking a huge hit near the end zone during the second quarter. WR Kenny Golladay and CB Rodarius Williams also had to exit the game due to respective knee injuries.

Things aren't looking great for the New York Giants.
