The New York Giants offense should get a big boost this weekend with wide receiver Sterling Shepard expected to return from his concussion.

According to Pro Football Talk, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said he expects Shepard to clear the concussion protocol by Sunday so he can play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, although it doesn't sound like he has cleared it just yet. On Wednesday, Shepard practiced with the team but wore a non-contact jersey.

Last week, Golden Tate was serving the second week of his four-game suspension for PED's and with Shepard also missing the game because of the concussion, it left the team very short-handed.

In Week 1, it's believed that Shepard suffered the concussion on the play below. Shepard got up and didn't leave the field and continued to play.

The NFL and NFLPA are currently reviewing the matter to find out what exactly went wrong to allow Shepard to stay on the field. With the increased emphasis on head safety, it is very concerning that this was allowed to happen.

The good news is that he seems to have recovered and will give rookie quarterback Daniel Jones a much-needed target in his first NFL start. A big reason the Giants traded away Odell Beckham Jr this offseason was their trust that Shepard could be a true number one receiver.

In his career, he has caught 196 passes for 3,328 yards and 14 touchdowns and if the Giants are to beat the Buccaneers on Sunday, it will be Shepard probably playing a big role in it.
