On July 19, 2010, the slain body of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright was found in a swampy area in rural Tennessee. Almost seven years later, the late player's wife was arrested for connections to the murder of her husband.

Sherra Wright-Robinson showed up in court on December 18, 2017, in California to make an appeal to face her charges in Memphis. She arrived in a wheelchair and appeared uncomfortable throughout the hearing.

Wright-Robinson's public defender indicated that he wanted a medical evaluation of his client before her trial.

Now, a judge in Tennessee has demanded that Wright-Robinson undergo a mental evaluation to determine if she is fit to stand trial. The purpose of the evaluation, according to The Associated Press, is to:

“…determine if Wright can help in her defense and if she can understand the consequences if convicted.”

If she is unable to pass the evaluation, the case against her will stall. However, the case against her accused co-defendant Billy Ray Turner will continue on. Both of the defendants have been charged with first-degree murder, and both have pleaded not guilty.

Wright Robinson had been married to Wright for an uncertain amount of time and had seven children with him. Currently, the children are advocating for the release of their mother, and have started a GoFundMe page to raise funds to raise money for her.

The children seem to be convinced of their mother's innocence, claiming on the GoFundMe page that she was “arrested for a crime she DID NOT commit”.

Both the prosecution and the defense will await the results of the mental evaluation so they can plan their actions accordingly.

The family of Lorenzen Wright obviously would just want some closure.
