The Atlanta Hawks will be without forward Jabari Parker for at least the next two weeks after he underwent a procedure on his injured right shoulder Tuesday. The organization noted that while the procedure was non-surgical, it will keep the sixth-year forward out of action for multiple weeks.

Parker served as a vital cog in the Atlanta rotation for the 25 games star forward John Collins missed earlier in the season due to suspension. Since returning to a bench role, Parker has seen his minutes, and therefore production, crater. The injury didn't help matters, and he had played in just one of Atlanta's previous five contests and saw only 15 minutes as a reserve.

Having inked a two-year deal with the Hawks back in July, Parker's first season with the organization can tentatively be viewed as a success. He's shooting 50.4 percent from the field overall en route to averaging 15.0 points per game. After excelling as a reserve down the stretch for Washington last season following a trade from his hometown Chicago Bulls, Parker has seemingly picked up right where he left off, although his role with Atlanta when healthy moving forward seems murky with Collins back in the mix.

Parker, a former No. 2 overall pick out of Duke in 2014, was once one of the league's fastest rising stars before a pair of torn ACL's stunted his early career progress. Still, he will not turn 25 years old until March and has a resume of averaging 15.1 points over 279 career regular-season contests.

The Hawks, who enter Tuesday with an 8-29 mark on the year, will continue the rebuilding process in Jabari Parker's absence and presumably reevaluate his place within it upon his return. It has been a rough go of it for Atlanta thanks to numerous injuries, Collins' suspension and overall disappointing play.
