Lloyd Pierce and Trae Young are the latest NBA stars to cheer on their WNBA counterparts in person. The Atlanta Hawks' coach and rising star point guard, respectively, took in Thursday's game between the Atlanta Dream and Las Vegas Aces from courtside seats at State Farm Arena.

The Aces beat the Dream 92-69 with another balanced scoring effort. All-Star Liz Cambage, acquired in an offseason trade with the Dallas Wings, and reserve Dearica Hamby led Las Vegas with 15 points apiece, and three other players reached double-figures. Atlanta, meanwhile, shot a dismal 33.3 percent overall and 21.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Pierce is coming off his debut season an NBA head coach. Hired away from the Philadelphia 76ers last May to replace Mike Budenholzer, Pierce guided the rebuilding Hawks to a 29-53 record in 2018-19, a tally that fails to reflect their improvement over the season's 82-game grind. Atlanta went a solid 10-14 after the All-Star break, buoyed by an offense that ranked 11th in the NBA over the season's final third.

Young's gradual improvement from a dismal start to his NBA career was the driving force behind his team's progress. The First Team All-Rookie honoree averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game this season, making a late-season push for Rookie of the Year by averaging 24.7 points and 9.2 assists per game post All-Star, and hitting multiple buzzer-beating game-winners.

The Hawks suddenly profile one of the most promising young teams in basketball. With young talent like Young, John Collins, Kevin Huerter in the fold, plus loads of draft and free agent capital, it seems only a matter of time until Atlanta is back in the playoffs.
