Kent Bazemore and the Atlanta Hawks might have just had their biggest night of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans. On Wednesday, Bazemore hit a deep 2-pointer over Anthony Davis to give the Hawks a 94-93 win.

The initial play looked questionable at first. Dennis Schroder seemed as if he didn't know who to pass the ball to. After being held by Davis, Bazemore freed himself up and drained a game-winner off a step-back jumper.

The shot was impressive, especially since Bazemore was guarded by one of the best defensive power forwards in the NBA. Yet, he still rose up to give the Hawks a great victory over the Pelicans.

The Hawks have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA. They are currently 13-31, ranked last in the Eastern Conference. After the departure of their star power forward Paul Millsap, the Hawks indicated their intentions to rebuild for future contention.

Now, the Hawks are anchored by their young talented players such as Bazemore and Schroder. Ersan Ilyasova is also having a solid year for the Hawks. Certainly, this win will not change the outlook of Atlanta this season. They are still a terrible NBA team that lacks the talent to win in the present, but this is a bright spot that the organization will try to build on moving forward.

The Hawks play the Chicago Bulls next on Saturday night. Hopefully, this performance by Bazemore will carry over in a positive way as the team tries to reshape its season.
