As teammates, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo have transformed the Miami Heat into surprise contenders in the Eastern Conference. However, that doesn't mean there can't be a bit of fun trash talk.
Prior to suiting up for Sunday's All-Star game, Adebayo was asked who he would want to face if All-Star Weekend featured a 1-on-1 competition. the Heat big man jokingly replied with Butler because “Jimmy is trash.”
Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie also chimed in and singled out Butler during a similar question while also stating that he was the biggest All-Star snub this year.
Butler and Adebayo have been a dynamic duo for Miami this season and are a huge reason why the Heat stands at 35-19 and the East's four seed at the break.
2020 will mark Butler's fifth All-Star appearance in nine seasons while Adebayo will be making his All-Star debut on Sunday.
In his first season with Miami, Jimmy Butler is averaging 20.6 points, a career-high 6.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the floor and 24.8 percent on his three=point attempts.
As for Adebayo, the third-year center out of the University of Kentucky is enjoying quite the breakout season. In 34.5 minutes per game, the 6-foot-9 center is putting up 15.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks — all career-highs.
Bam Adebayo has also been efficient from the floor shooting 57.9 percent on the season.
The idea of a 1-on-1 tournament during the All-Star break has circulated around the internet and has intrigued fans for quite a while now. Whether or not the idea ever actually gets implemented is a different story.
