More than anything else, Carmelo Anthony’s top contribution to the Atlanta Hawks is making the team a trivia answer. Sure, Anthony acted as a catalyst for the Hawks to shed point guard Dennis Schroder’s pay off the books, but it also meant they had to buy out the 10-time All-Star’s $25.5 million contract for the 2018-19 season. In other words, the Hawks paid Anthony NOT to play for them.

Well, Anthony’s with the Houston Rockets now after spending five days as a Hawk. No one will remember that he spent five days on the Hawks’ depth chart, but Bleacher Report still dropped this hilarious deadpan joke on Twitter.

Former Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, meanwhile, just couldn’t help but react to troll job about Anthony’s ephemeral stint in Atlanta.

When Anthony picked up his option for the final year of his previous contract, the Oklahoma City Thunder helped engineer a three-team trade that also involved the Philadelphia 76ers that sent the forward to the Hawks. The Hawks were never interested in keeping Anthony, so they waived him five days after the trade, paving the way for him to sign a veteran’s minimum deal with Houston.

We’re assuming that Carmelo Anthony is not going to demand a tribute video from Atlanta.
