Debates can last for hours when going over just who are the greatest players ever at each position in NBA history. However, there seems to be quite a clear consensus regarding the best talents to feature at shooting guard.

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are well regarded as the two best players to play the two-guard. Still, there can be a drop-off when it comes to recognizing the other standout players who made a name for themselves at the shooting guard position, including former Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade.

In speaking to Complex Sports, Wade was asked on whether he cares at all about how many often leave his name out of the conversation when discussing the greatest shooting guards in league history. For the three-time NBA champion, he simply does not pay much attention to how others perceive his overall legacy.

“And I don’t personally care,” Wade said. “I put my resume out there, and I let my resume speak for itself. … I can’t add any more to my basketball resume.

“I like to look at it like this: when it comes to the greats or the GOAT conversation, our minds are triggered to see just ‘one’ at these positions. We see one Michael Jordan, and that’s our GOAT because that’s the era we grew up in – but then you have Kobe Bryant at the same position that could very well be a GOAT in his own right, but he’s behind Michael Jordan in a lot of eyes.”

In the big picture, Wade does not concern himself with how critics view his career resume. At the end of the day, the former Heat guard left his mark in the NBA.

“If I ever really cared about the praise of man, to get me through or make me feel good about my career, it never would’ve been what it was,” Wade said. “History speaks for itself. I’m in history. You can’t mention basketball without mentioning me, you can’t talk about being a champion without mentioning me.

“I did my part and I let my resume speak for itself.”

From the 13 All-Star appearances to the multitude of crucial plays in the playoffs, Wade sure left behind quite a legacy during his run with the Heat.
