The end of August signals a slow period of news in the NBA as most free agent signings and trades have already been completed. However, fans can rejoice in knowing that the annual edition of NBA 2K will be released in a little less than a month, giving them a chance to satisfy their basketball withdrawals.

With NBA 2K18 set to release soon, player ratings have begun to leak to the delight or dismay of players and fans alike. Many have voiced their opinion about the game's rankings and Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is the most recent player to sit down and discuss his rating according to Twitter:

While Whiteside's rating is debatable, it should not take away from the fact that the big man should be a focal point for next year's Miami team. After signing a lucrative four-year, $98 million contract last summer, Whiteside proved to be one of the best centers in the league during the 2016-2017 NBA season. His ability to roll hard to the rim and block shots on the defensive end are ideal in today's NBA and he should benefit from the Heat's spacing.

With a core of Whiteside, Goran Dragic, Dion Waiters, and Kelly Olynyk, Miami should have no problem competing in a considerably weaker Eastern Conference. Whiteside should once again dominate the paint, which would increase the likelihood of improving his NBA 2K rating.
