Prior to Game 1 of their first round matchup with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Playoffs, the Miami Heat probably only had two things in mind: 1. Stop Trae Young and 2. Don't forget to do no. 1.

And if there's one thing the Heat know how to do, it's to follow the game plan. The Hawks spitfire was limited to only eight points on 1-of-12 shooting from the field. It's his lowest scoring output the entire season. Early in the game, Heat star Jimmy Butler got into it with Young during a brief scuffle, sending a clear message that the All-Star guard won't have his way easily.

After the Heat's dominant 115-91 win, Butler admitted that their ploy was to make life miserable for Young, per the report of ESPN.

“Just make it physical on him, challenge every shot, keep him off the free throw line, and make him pass.”

The 23-year-old Young was coming off a masterful performance in the play-in tournament against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Heat put him in a straitjacket, proving further why they're the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Hawks coach Nate McMillan even thought so.

“I thought Miami played at another level. We talked about that in our locker room, that in the playoffs, there's another level you have to get to. They (Heat) showed us tonight there's another level we have to get to in order to compete in these playoffs.”

The Heat will look to continue putting on the clamps on Young in Game 2 on Tuesday.
