The Miami Heat are expecting three-time NBA champion Udonis Haslem to return for a 17th season of service.

Haslem, now 39 years of age, has stated that he wasn't sure if he was ready to retire following the 2018-19 campaign, and that his decision wouldn't be made until this season approached.

Though Udonis Haslem has not conveyed a final decision, the expectation inside the Heat is that Haslem will return for a 17th season with the team, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

An associate of Haslem also said Monday he believes Haslem will play another season and that Haslem has indicated he’s strongly leaning that way, barring a surprising change of heart.

Though his role with the team has diminished in recent years, Haslem is a beloved member of the Heat organization. The former University of Florida standout made 10 appearances last season (one start), racking up averages of 2.5 points on 33.3 percent shooting from the field and 2.7 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per outing.

The Heat value Haslem's leadership, and they're willing to offer him a spot on the roster. If he does indeed return, he would be signed to a $2.6 million veteran’s minimum contract. However, only $1.6 million of his deal would go against Miami's cap.
