The Miami Heat have signed forward Marcus Lee, according to a team release.

Lee played his senior season at the University of California, where he appeared and started in 32 games with the Golden Bears in 2017-18, averaging 11.4 points on 56.3 percent from the field, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 assists in 27.8 minutes per game.

Lee began his collegiate career at the University of Kentucky before transferring to Cal for his last season, paving his way for the NBA, despite going undrafted at the 2018 NBA Draft.

The Heat's roster now stands at 15 players, along with a couple of two-way players in Duncan Robinson and Yante Maten — totaling 17 altogether, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Teams are allowed to carry a maximum of 20 players during the offseason, but must shave that total to 15 by the start of training camp.

Lee will find himself in a crowded frontcourt rotation that includes Hassan Whiteside, Kelly Olynyk, Bam Adebayo and James Johnson.

His signing also spells a closing window for veterans Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem, who are likely a combo package to return or retire from the NBA after entering the NBA Draft together back in 2003.

Wade has been mulling retirement after playing 21 games with the Heat last season after getting traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
