Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade was selected by commissioner Adam Silver on Friday as a special addition to the All-Star Game, the most significant yet of the many honors he's received on his farewell tour toward retirement.

In his younger years, Dwyane Wade surely would have been upset after his team was blown out at American Airlines Center. But now, basking in the glow of his imminent retirement and widespread adulation? The 37-year-old not only shares laughs with opposing players after losses but routinely swaps jerseys with them, too.

This time the swap partner was Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George.

Wade planned to conduct post-game jersey swaps even before the last of his 16-season career tipped off back in the fall. The future Hall of Famer told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in October that jerseys will be reserved in advance for some of his friends on opposing teams.

“I got the schedule, so I know who we're playing and I know who's on that team that I have a relationship with,” Wade said. “Then I go to them before the game or they come to me.”

George fits that bill after he absolutely dismantled the Heat during the Thunder's 118-102 victory. The All-Star starter continued his MVP campaign on Friday, scoring 43 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing five assists, and connecting on a career-high 10 three-pointers.

Is such a performance jersey worthy? Probably, but the friendship between Wade and George had more to do with this lovely post-game gesture than anything else.
