The Philadelphia 76ers are moving on to the Eastern Conference semifinals after booting out the Miami Heat in the first round with a 104-91 win at home Tuesday night. The game was more intense than what the score suggests, however. It was a physical contest that saw both teams combine for 52 personal fouls.

The Heat were the more physical team in the matchup as they netted 32 fouls. Heat forward James Johnson accrued five fouls himself along with a technical foul after intentionally running over a pair of Sixers in Marco Belinelli and J.J. Redick during one moment in the fourth quarter.

Perhaps frustration got the better of James Johnson in that play, as the Sixers were doing a fine job of keeping Miami at bay. The Heat actually chopped down a 14-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter to only eight points after Dwyane Wade made a two-point jumper with a little under six minutes remaining on the game clock. But Johnson killed his team’s momentum with that egregious foul, as it allowed the Sixers to knock down shots from the free throw line, causing Philly’s lead to balloon to 11 points.

Johnson finished the game with only four points, five rebounds, and five assists in 32 minutes of action on the floor. As for the Sixers, they will now wait for the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks-Boston Celtics series.

Not many people know that Johnson is a karate black belter, so who knows, he probably was just preparing for some offseason mixed martial arts bout.
