Following a splendid 32-point, 30-rebound performance against the Brooklyn Nets, the league office has suspended center Dwight Howard after he was assessed his 16th foul of the season, according to Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer.
The one-game suspension is expected to be served tonight, as the Charlotte Hornets host the Memphis Grizzlies, with the absence costing Howard $162,069 — a suspension that would have cost the $23.5-million-man $213,000 under the old collective bargaining agreement, according to ESPN Insider Bobby Marks.

Players are fined on a rising scale — $2,000 for the first five technical fouls, $3,000 for the next five, $4,000 for fouls 11-through-15, and finally a $5,000 fine in addition to a one-game suspension after the 16th tech.
Howard is the first player to be suspended by technical foul accumulation this season, with Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors toeing the line as he did last season, with 15 technical fouls of his own.
